Green wood

Working with green wood is being in direct contact with the living tree, its sap, its bark. It is first of all necessary to understand how it grew to choose a piece, anticipate its deformations during turning and drying. What a pleasure to play with the grain, designs and bright colours of fresh wood.

With some special tools for hollowing (rings, hooks, scrapers) and a long ears bowl gouge, we quickly fly long chips and all without dust. Emphasis will be placed on sharpening to limit sanding, which ultimately does not pose more difficulties than in dry wood with some particular techniques.
